The legendary french mountaineer Maurice Herzog, first man to summit an 8000er peak, passes away on 13th December 2012 at the age of 93.
Herzog became first mountaineer to reach summit of an 8000er peak, when he topped the tenth tallest mountain on earth, and statistically today's most dangerous 8000er, Annapurna I (8,091 | 26545) on June 3, 1950 . "There are other Annapurnas in the lives of men" is the famous life from Herzog's book. Herzog lived a successful political and business life in years after Annapurna.
